ABOUT THE ARCHITECT

  GGGiancarlo Garofalo - B.Arch., OAA

Giancarlo Garofalo earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Toronto in 1976 and has been a member of the Ontario Association of Architects since 1984.

Prior to starting his own practice, Giancarlo Garofalo Architect Inc. Giancarlo was with Crang and Boake Inc. from 1981 until 1986 where he was a principal designer. Giancarlo's strong design sensibility and team collaboration had lead to award winning designs in international competitions from Trafalgar Square in London, England and La Defense in Paris, France.
 
Giancarlo was also engaged in project management from 1979 to 1981 with Construction Specialties Inc., based in Paris France, and worked on international projects based in the Middle East, in particular the University of Ryhiad. His responsibilities involved contract administration and co-ordination with various international Firms.
 
Giancarlo Garofalo Architect has also worked in association with Q2A Architects as Technical Advisory Consultants for The Ontario Realty Corporation (ORC) in the preparation of new Request for Proposals (RFPs) for new projects.
 
Currently, Giancarlo's client base is varied, involved in a variety of commercial, industrial and institutional projects. He has consistently worked with (ORC) on various Ministry projects.
 
Working with the various Ministries has given Giancarlo the opportunity to utilize his administration and listening skills in order to understand the clients needs and develop efficient designs such as the prototype family courtrooms at 80 The East Mall.
 
Giancarlo has had extensive experience in the industrial sector. He has worked on many industrial warehouse facilities: ELTE Carpet, Prism Powder Coatings and Richmond Welding & Iron Works, were new projects ranging in area from 20,000sq.ft. to 110,000 sq.ft. Also, The Eglinton Grand was a recent renovation to an existing art-deco historically designated cinema, which proved to be a successful challenge.
 
GGA was also a prime consultant to Premier Fitness Inc. and has designed various high-end restaurants/ lounges and bars in the city. Giancarlo's experience has given him the skills to design and manage various projects from complex office buildings to private residences.
